Unity is Strength – a long established trade union maxim. This has been anything but the case within education, at least within teachers, recently. Recession even a depression is coming – our living standards falling, education being privatised, union margins are being squeezed.
How should we in education trade unionism respond to the crisis? Do we need more unity? How far should it go? What way is forward? This will be an important and lively debate at the series of meetings being held at the union conferences this year. Look out for the leaflets at each conference — dates below.
