The campaign around the country against academies and the privatisation of education is an excellent example of unity in action. We now see victories such as at Sinfin in Derby and Sheffield where the council has rejected the whole system.
The work of the Anti Academy Alliance as an umbrella and cross union organisation aiming to coordinate action and disseminate information has been pivotal in this struggle.

NUT and NASUWT members at Royal Docks Community School in Newham were on strike on Thursday 19 March in opposition to plans to hand the school over to be an academy run by the ARK group, backed by hedge fund speculators.
