At the Unify Annual General Meeting Gawain Little of the NEU Executive gave a speech looking at the history of education unions and the importance of collective bargaining. Gawain was instrumental in the negotiations that led to the amalgamation of the ATL and NUT to form the NEU. He has a clear vision on why professional unity is so important: Educators need to be at the centre of developing an education system that is fit for purpose. He sees workplace organising as the backbone of this labour, but he believes that educators vision need to be seen as shapers of future society.
